Extended Access

This service provides Wandsworth patients access to a clinician at any of the three Access Hubs in the borough, seven days per week. Appointments need to be booked in advance as it is not a walk-in service.

We commission this service, subcontracting three different Access Hub locations in Wandsworth to deliver the service specification.

The Enhanced Access service commenced in 2019 and has continued to be commissioned on an annual rolling basis.

The Access Hubs are located at:

  • The Junction Health Centre
  • Bedford Hill Family Practice
  • QMH (Roehampton) / Tudor Lodge Health Centre.

The service benefits patients and service users in the following ways:

  • Providing access to a Wandsworth clinician 8am to 8pm, 7 days per week
  • Same day appointments
  • Reducing demand on urgent and acute NHS services
  • Providing an effective service to patients closer to home
  • Service has full access to all Wandsworth registered patients’ medical records.

The benefits of the service to primary care and the wider healthcare system, include:

  • Reduction in demand on acute and 111 services
  • Provides additional capacity to GP practices
  • Other healthcare partners are able to directly book into the hubs.
