March is Lymphoedema Awareness Month !
Did you know over 400,000 people are living with lymphoedema in the UK? That’s more than the total number of people living with Parkinson’s and MS combined and similar to rheumatoid arthritis, one of the UK’s most common long‑term inflammatory conditions.
We’re proud work with the social enterprise Accelerate who deliver specialist care for those living with chronic wounds and lymphoedema. In Wandsworth they work alongside Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust’s community nursing service to provide specialist advice and support for housebound patients.
A key focus of our service is on supporting people to to manage their often-long term condition as independently as possible.
This involves ensuring community nursing and primary care teams have the most up to date information on how best to support their patients and to advocate for earlier interventions to prevent more complex, chronic problems that may occur later.
